  • New toilet seat (with included hardware)
  • Screwdriver (flat-head or Phillips-head, depending on the fasteners)
  • Adjustable wrench or pliers
  • Optional: gloves, disinfectant wipes

Prepare Your Area

With your tools on hand, you can prepare the toilet area for installation. Close the toilet lid and seat, and thoroughly clean the toilet bowl and surrounding area with disinfectant wipes. This will ensure a clean and sanitary workspace for the installation process.

Remove the Old Toilet Seat

If replacing an existing toilet seat, begin by removing the old seat. To do this:

  1. Locate the plastic caps or covers at the back of the seat; these typically cover the seat bolts.
  2. Use a screwdriver to pry off the caps or covers and reveal the seat bolts underneath.
  3. Use a screwdriver or adjustable wrench to loosen and remove the nuts securing the seat bolts from underneath the toilet bowl.
  4. Lift the old seat and any hardware assembly off the toilet bowl and dispose of them properly.

Position the New Toilet Seat

Place the new toilet seat on top of the toilet bowl, making sure the seat aligns properly with the bowl and the mounting holes match up with the holes in the bowl. The seat should be positioned with the front end facing towards the front of the toilet bowl and the lid facing upwards.

Install the Seat Bolts

Once the seat is properly positioned, it's time to install the seat bolts and secure the seat in place. Insert the seat bolts through the mounting holes in the toilet bowl from underneath, then secure the seat bolts in place by tightening the nuts onto the bolts from underneath the bowl. Be careful not to overtighten, as this could damage the toilet bowl or seat.

Attach the Seat Cover

If your toilet seat comes with a separate lid or cover, attach it to the seat using the included hardware. This typically involves aligning the hinges on the lid with the hinge points on the seat and securing them in place with screws or bolts.
